[edit] Description

Valak Mountain is both the coldest location, and the largest location in terms of area that can be explored. Points of interest on the mountain include ruins of both Giant and High Entia origin, including Ose Tower, as it was once called.

At night, the frozen icicles illuminate the mountain with a beautiful yellow glow, sending multiple beams of light into the sky. This won't be visible during a blizzard, however.

The two highest-leveled enemies in the game can be found here, but they only appear after the events of Mechonis Core.

Nothing lives here full-time, and the only inhabitants are Nopon Merchants and Nopon explorers.

[edit] Story

[edit] Into the Snow

To make it to snow valley, the party has to pass through Valak Mountain, which is in a permanent state of cold. Alvis says that the party has to head to the Sealed Tower first. Be careful on the journey down, as it is very easy to step off a ledge and take severe fall damage here. Fall Defence gems can help to reduce the amount of damage taken from said falls.

Upon arriving at the tower's entrance, the door is covered by an extremely thick layer of ice. To proceed, the party has to obtain a Magma Rock in the Lava Cave. But in order to do so they have to defeat the Conflagrant Raxeal, who guards said rock. Using this, any walls of ice that can be melted will be melted, and not just at Sealed Tower but in other parts of Valak Mountain.

Resting within Ose Tower, as it was once called, Alvis informs Shulk that he has to accept the visions that he sees, a remark that Dunban overhears.

When the group resumes, the body proceeds towards the Bionis' Wrist via Great Glacier, where they are stopped by Face Nemesis, who wishes to say something to Shulk. However, what was meant to be said was never found out, as Metal Face attacks and uses the identity of Face Nemesis to get get Shulk to try and yield the Monado.

It is here where the party finds out who Metal Face really is, revealed to be Mumkhar, who fought with Dunban at Sword Valley a year prior. And Mumkhar's plan would have worked, except he was surprised by a Mind Blast to the face from Melia. Shulk quickly recovers the Monado and a battle ensues.

After this battle, the leader of the Mechon reveals himself: Egil, who collects Face Nemesis before returning to the Mechonis with Mumkhar.

[edit] Post-Mechonis Core

A few different things change on Valak Mountain after the events of Mechonis Core. First, a group of High Entia refugees that fled Alcamoth will be taking refuge at the Sealed Tower.

Second, two of the Superbosses appear, and these two are the highest-leveled enemies of the game: Blizzard Belgazas on the Great Glacier, and Avalanche Abaasy at Three Sage Summit during a blizzard at night.

Final Marcus, the only Superboss that appears prior to Mechonis Core, will be in that location at any other time.
