[edit] Description

A floating island above the West side of Eryth Sea, Prison Island is so named because according to legends, the High Entia ancestors imprisoned something on the island.

During the main plot this location gets visited twice. On visit one none of the transporters work, and getting around is done via blackish-blue fireballs that serve as teleportation marks. Those transporters will be working on the second visit, and both times its teleportation that gets used to reach the top!

[edit] Story

[edit] The First Visit: Shulk Foresees a Fight!

Shortly after Metal Face retreats from Colony 6, Shulk has a vision of a place very high up, and the Monado slashing through Metal Face's armor without any problems. It is because of this vision that Shulk and his friends decided to travel here.

But before Shulk can even get here, Sorean left for Prison Island due to the Mechon attack on Eryth Sea. By the time they get to Prison Terrace, Sorean is already there, along with that which was sealed away: a Giant by the name of Zanza. Melia has a very bad feeling, thinking that there must have been a very good reason for Zanza to have been sealed away.

Regardless of Melia's feeling, Shulk frees the giant, who releases the shackles on the Monado, causing the sword to transform into a new weapon, the Monado II, a three-slot weapon that will require gems to be re-equipped.

While all of this is going on, Metal Face is trying to figure out where the source of that power is coming from. When he spots it, he targets and throws a spear through the energy field that couldn't be penetrated otherwise, striking Zanza and killing the Giant, thus starting a cutscene battle with members of the party. However Sorean interjects with an energy burst that briefly disables Metal Face.

However, Metal Face recovers and Sorean pushes Melia away right before the High Entia Emperor gets slashed, killing him. After the Monado's transformation, Face Nemesis warns Metal Face that they cannot withstand such power. And she was right: the Monado in its transformed state had no problems harming Metal Face, and Monado Enchant will also work against Faced Mechon as well.

But just as the party is about to finish Metal Face off, Face Nemesis jumps in the way, damaging her armour. The armour that was damaged revealed something seen briefly at the end of Shulk's vision that led him here. What was revealed

Shulk and company depart Prison Island and make plans to head for the Mechonis.

[edit] The Second Visit: To the Final Battle!

During the events of Mechonis Core, it is seen that Prison Island sinks into the Bionis' Head as part of the Bionis' awakening. Once Lorithia is defeated at Bionis' Interior, the party uses the dark teleporter to return to Prison Island with the intention of finding and stopping their ultimate enemies.

The map seen below is of Prison Island in its entirety, and unlike the first visit the entire island is accessible. After fighting through the Island, the group returns to Prison Terrace to face off with Disciple Dickson, but do not head to the terrace without being fully prepared because that is the point of no return, as Dunban forewarns.
