[edit] Description

Alcamoth is the Capital City of the Bionis, situated on its head overlooking Eryth Sea and within view of the top of the Mechonis. It is also the largest city in the game, and can only be accessed via the Centre Gate teleporter. A variety of different story elements take place here, and is the hub for setting out to the High Entia Tomb, Prison Island and eventually a part of Makna Forest that you couldn't reach earlier.

Major Note: After the events of Mechonis Core, skip travelling into Alcamoth becomes impossible, with the Centre Gate becoming the only way in or out of the city.

[edit] Story

[edit] Political Affairs

Upon arrival, Melia has to report to the Emperor that the Telethia had been defeated. However, her arrival was not without incident, as Shulk and the others were captured, only to be set free after being questioned by Alvis.

Shulk and his friends were sent out to investigate what was going wrong at the Syrath Lighthouse on Hovering Reef 4, and while this was going on, Sorean, the emperor, was discussing the goings-on with Kallian, Melia's older brother, and Yumea, the first consort, along with Alvis.

It is determined that Melia must go into the High Entia Tomb to perform an ancient ritual...alone. However, Yumea sees this as an opportunity to strike, and take Melia out.

Apparently, according to Yumea, being a "half-breed" isn't good enough to succeed as ruler of the High Entia. But she doesn't stop there, she also sends some assassins to take out Shulk and friends upon their return from the Syrath Lighthouse.

This is one battle that you don't want Shulk involved in because all his attacks will do one damage. The members of the Bionite Order are still born of the Bionis' flesh-and-blood, making them resistant to the Monado's attacks. The debuffs will still work from arts such as Air Slash and Slit Edge, but they'll only do one damage.

After the party's return from the High Entia Tomb, what happened is relayed and Yumea is arrested for her actions. Shulk then meets with the Emperor, and while he says he needs more time to think over the situation, he runs out of time as the Mechon launch an attack on Eryth Sea.

Upon realizing this, the Emperor takes his staff and departs for Prison Island. The party rushes after him!

[edit] SPOILER: Fallout From Prison Island

Returning from Prison Island, there is a lot on everyone's mind, particularly Dunban's. Both himself, Shulk and Reyn had thought that Fiora had died in the attack at Colony 9, only to realize that she was still alive. More so, Dunban had distanced himself from the group, so Shulk goes off to find him.

They make a vow to find her and save her, whatever the cost.

At the same time, Kallian had come up with a plan to bring together an allied force to strike against Mechonis. While Shulk was approached with the task of leading this force, he eventually had to respectfully decline. Melia was also sent off for Valak Mountain with Shulk while a "double" will stand in for the real Melia.

[edit] Post-Mechonis Core

After the events of Mechonis Core, two things are of importance: All sidequests from this area will expire. The only sidequest from this area that isn't timed is a Surprise Quest that pops up after completing a seemingly unrelated one.

In addition to skip travelling to, from and within the capital, the capital will be swarming with Telethia that will be at the most Level 90! There will be a couple of sidequests that return here, but be prepared for some tough battles and be sure that you're adequately equipped if under-leveled!
